Foreign-Based Players to Be Reduced?

With nine days to the crucial match involving Liberia and Ethiopia, there are unconfirmed reports that the list of 14 foreign-based players submitted by technical manager Kadalah Kromah may be reduced.

Speaking to Radio Veritas on Wednesday, LFA General Secretary Yanqueh S. Borsay said, though he has not gotten an official statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) concerning reduction or increment of the list, the told Kadalah to submit a list of six players for faxes to be sent to them.

He said based on their instructions, coach Kromah submitted the list and faxes were sent to players George Gebro, Jimmy Dixon, Alvin Power Kie, Josiah JB Seton, Dulee Johnson and Dioh Williams. Chief Scribe Borsay added that faxes were also being sent to Frank Seator, Bill Neewray, Larmin Ousman among others while awaiting official respond from the MYS.

He told the station that this decision was based on the fact that the Football House did not want be caught pants down while awaiting respond from the MYS, that is why it decided to send faxes to some players.

Meanwhile, some players have told our Sports Desk that they are yet to receive their faxes. Player Bill Neewray, who is based in Switzerland said his fax is yet to reach him. He said Mr. Borsay told him that his fax was sent to Mr. Abraham Fofana for onward forwarding to him since it was difficult to send from Liberia.

The player said he wanted the fax to reach on time to enable to him arrange his travel plans.

There are also reports that Mr. Fofana was finding it difficult to send the fax for player Josiah Seton. But the player has sent two additional numbers to be used to send the fax.

Coach Kadalah Kromah had earlier submitted a list of 14 foreign-based players for the match. Those listed are Alvin Kie, George Gebro (Greece), Prince Daye (Tunisia), Josiah JB Seton-Malaysia (he replaced the injured Zizi Roberts), Jimmy Dixon (Sweden), Kelvin Sebwe (UAE), Oliver Makor (Greece), Dulee Johnson (Sweden), Dioh Williams (Sweden), Edward Zico Dixon (France), Bill Neewray (Switzerland), Frank Seator (Tunisia), Larmin Ousman (Sweden) and Ben Tiklo (Cameroon).

In another development, the local-based team is yet to go to camp. The team only trains once a day at the ATS.

Coach Kromah said camping is necessary to enable players know each other well. "It is not just playing on the field, but it is about the players knowing each other as persons of the same team," the coach told journalists at the ATS.

As for Chief Scribe Borsay, he said a cite has been identified for the team to camp. He did not however say when the team will go on camp.
