Foreign Coach Not the Solution

...Says Coach Kromah, Recommends Marbue Richards As Successor

The former coach of the Liberian national soccer team, Kadala Kromah says the solution to the Lone Star's problem is not the hiring of the services of a foreign coach as some may think.

The Liberian soccer technician said it is a glaring fact that Liberia lacks the facilities and unable at the moment to provide the kind of services that a foreign coach would need to work in the country.

Coach Kromah made these comments when he spoke to The INQUIRER Sports yesterday in an exclusive interview.

Addressing the issue as to who he thinks can best take over as coach of the national team, the former national team coach said, the job is not a small task that can be entrusted to just any one, stressing that for someone to take over this position, he should have acquired the kind of education and training that goes with the job.

Quizzed as to which of the coaches in the country he thinks is better suited for the position and should take over from him, coach Kromah in a serious mood, recommended the name of Coach Marbue Richards.

Commenting further on the kind of person he know Mr. Richards to be, he said Mr. Richards is highly intelligent, educated and has the kind of exposure for the job.

On whether he still thinks that the Lone Star can make a come back to secure a ticket in the ongoing qualifiers, he said, "we are just not ready to go to the World Cup. We need to educate our people to build a team."

Asked as to whether he will still make his contribution to the team despite his resignation as well as reconsider his decision to take over the team in the future, Coach Kromah said as an educator he will still contribute when called to lecture for example during workshops organized by the LFA.

On the issue as to why he did not call the old players to represent the country against Senegal, he said the Liberian people are quick to forget, adding "we were just a step away from the World Cup the last time, it was the old guys that messed it up and so my philosophy was to build a new team."
