For Nation And
World Cup

The Analyst (Monrovia)
Monrovia May 18, 2004- The Chairman of the
Promoters of Liberia Athletes (PROLA), Joseph Karkollie, says his
organization will continue to assist in building a capable national
soccer team that will adequately represent the country in its two
prestigious soccer competition, the qualifying rounds in the African
Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
Mr. Farkollie told reporters yesterday that the role of
his organization, as a sports promotion frim, is to provide valuable
information that will enable the technical staff recruit of players.
He said it is when capable, talented, innovative and
purposeful players are recruit to the national team that the nation
would make head ways and make significant impact at the two
competitions.
The PROLA Boss has lauded the technical staff for
the team's performance recently in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The Lone Star squad that went to Freetown
comprised mainly of home-based players, whom Mr. Farkollie he said
need more work to do.
However, the PROLA boss said that the technical
staff need to liaise with the local football house (LFA), and the
Ministry of Youth and Sports to follow through information about
active players abroad for possible selection for the national team.
The PROLA Chairman has also suggested that the
technical staff should begin to inquire about a Liberian player, John
Collins, who is playing for English premier club Fulham.
"We need to work now in building our team for these two big
competitions," Mr. Farkollie noted.
