At long last, the national football league of the Liberia
Football Associaion (LFA) with support from the second
leader of converged communication, Cellcom GSM, is expected
to kick-off today at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in
Monrovia. The national football party was postponed four
times owing to administrative reasons, between the 2nd week
of September to Sunday, December 4, 2011.
According to the fixture, of which a copy is in our
possession, the LFA-Cellcom 2011/2012 League will bring to
the fore 16 premier clubs; 21 first division clubs, 16
second division clubs and 14 female clubs.
The league will be played in five six venues: The Antoinette
Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia, the Kakata Sports Pitch in
Kakata, the Doris Williams Sports Stadium in Buchanan, the
Ganta and Sanniquellie Sports Stadiums in Nimba County.
The fixture further divided the league into sixteen (16)
rounds, from Monday, December 12, 2011 to Wednesday, June
15, 2012, without indicating whether the 16 rounds are
merely Phase One or/are Phases One and Two.
But some stakeholders are arguing that the fixture released
by the LFA, depict that the national league might be a
one-phase league.
Today’s fixture: female outfit B.F. Ranger will meet Island
Queen at 2:00pm, while Keitrace will challenge Aries at
4:00pm, Jubilee FC will face IE, and BYC and LISCR will meet
at 8:00pm. All games will be played at the ATS.
Tomorrow, Holder FC will lock horns with Gardnersvile FC and
Defense Guidance will tackle Millennium Stars at 2pm and 4pm
respectively, while at 6pm, Young Pro will meet IBS.
On Wednesday, World Girls will rub boots with Earth Angels
at 2:00pm, Karn United will meet Small Town and Monrovia
Breweries will engage UMC Roots at 4pm and 6pm respectively
at the ATS.
All games will be played at the ATS.
