Female
Team Formed In Bomi County

David Kortie
What appears to be a serious campaign by chairman on female football
at the Liberia Football Association (LFA) David Kortie is said to be
on course with the establishment of another female team out side
Monrovia.
Mr. Kortie, who is implementing one of his campaign plans in
establishing female teams in all the 15 counties, on Saturday May 6,
announced the establishment of a female team, called Bomi Rangers,
in Bomi County.
According to him, the establishment of these teams in the 15
counties is part of his four years plan geared toward building
strong national female team for the future.
He noted that the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA)
has attached serious importance to female soccer through its
national associations and as such establishing teams in the 15
counties is good for the country. He maintained that organizing
female teams in all the counties will be significant in spotting
potential female talents in the country.
The female boss, who is popularly known as 5-1-9, said that teams he
is establishing in all the counties will not be his own teams but
will rather be turned over to the county officials as their own so
as to support them.
According to him, when the county authorities will have developed
these teams, he will then propose to the Ministry of Youth and
Sports (MYS) that female soccer is included in the 2008 county meet.
County officials who received the female chairman wholeheartedly
congratulated Mr. Kortie for such initiate.
They said the move by the female chairman will help significantly in
the development of youths in the counties especially women. They
vowed not only to welcome the idea but to also join the chairman in
the campaign by reaching out to districts and towns to establish
female teams.
The David Kortie, who has played some major roles in Liberian
football cycle, has highly been commended for the move by many
sports lovers. Some say Mr. Kortie’s goodwill should be seen as a
good beginning for top post at the Liberia Football Association
(LFA) in the future.
Meanwhile Female boss is expected to leave the capital this end week
for Grand Bassa County to establish another female team.
