Female Player Denies Reports

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

Female striker Miatta Johnson has denied reports that he was quitting the national under-19 female national team.

Last Friday, March March 24, 2006, Miatta alias Rivaldo was quoted by the Analyst newspaper as saying via phone that her alleged decision was due to the lack of seriousness by sports authorities in the country.

However, the player did not only reject the story but declared that at no time she ever granted an interview with the paper.

According to her, it was unprofessional on the part of the paper to have attributed the article to her without contacting her.

The player of Pro-Anchor Sisters did not make the trip to Algeria on Sunday with her female counterparts yet she said that the reason the Analyst gave in its story was not why she is not on the trip.

She pointed out that the article is causing a harm to her football career as several officials who know to be a quiet person appeared shocked over the article.

"Since the story, many LFA officials have called in order to tell me that I was wrong to take such decision. But let me tell the Liberian people that the paper is lying on me because I was never contacted," she declared.

She called on the paper to retract the story so as to avoid causing further harm to her career.
