Farko Remains
Quiet On Petitions

Mr. Joseph H. Farkollie-PROLA President
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
Renowned sports promoter Joseph H. Farkollie has
decided to remain silent for now about commenting on recent
petitions calling on him to vie for the presidency of the Liberia
Football Association (LFA).
The LFA will hold elections next year with the incumbent President
Cllr. Sombo Izetta Wesley along with businessman Musa Bility and
former football star Musa Shannon likely to compete for the top
post.
But having being petitioned by some institutions and individuals in
the football arena, the sports promoter said he is critically
reviewing the petitions.
“Since news emerged about my petitions, I have been receiving calls
from both home and abroad with many people asking me to consider
this request,” the man popularly called Farko mentioned.
“Well, it is an honor for me to be singled out from among numerous
persons who have put in so much so as to improve football,” he
added.
“However, I don’t want to say no or yes to the petitions for now.
What I can say is that we should follow the developments as they
unfold and at the same time allow Madam Izetta Wesley to complete
her term as President of the LFA before talking about elections,”
Mr. Farkollie said.
Mr. Farkollie lauded those who have decided to call on him to
contest as a result of his contributions towards the development and
promotion of the game and athletes.
He admonished the petitioners to give him ample time to study the
situation in that the elections are still far away.
He reminded those wanting him to go for the presidency to allow Cllr.
Wesley to complete her tenure, which ends next year.
As the national league is currently in full swing, Mr. Farkollie
believes that the focus should be placed on the local clubs as they
strive to provide the splendid football that Liberians are yearning
for.
Over the years, Mr. Farkollie has been a staunch member and
supporter of the Invincible Eleven (IE) Majestic Sports Association,
rising to the position of Board Member. He was a founding member of
the LPRC Oilers Sports Association.
The PROLA boss then served as President of the LPMC Planters
football club for five unbroken years. He went on to chair both the
Lofa County Sports Association and Agricultural Sports Association (ASA).
Due to his efforts aimed at promoting and developing sports in the
country, Farko has received numerous awards from the sporting media
including The News and Inquirer newspapers as well as other sporting
organizations and associations.
Mr. Farkollie is presently the President of the Promoters of
Liberian Athletes (PROLA), a group founded to contribute to the
wellbeing of players.
