Farko Backs Izetta
-Lofa Chairman Follows Suit

               Joseph H. Farkollie

The second term candidacy of Cllr. Sombo Izetta Wesley has been given a major boost following a declaration of support by renowned sports promoter Joseph H. Farkollie. He made it emphatically clear that the reigning President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) should stay on.

Mr. Farkollie is also a candidate for the position of Vice President for Operations of the LFA and President of the Promoters of Liberian Athletes (PROLA). He will go against the incumbent Adolph Lawrence (popularly known as the Virus In LFA) and Mr. Alfred Sayon, Vice President for Operations-elect of Invincible Eleven (IE).

In his statement of support, Mr. Farkollie described Cllr. Wesley as one of the foremost sports personalities Liberia has to boast of. "You will notice that Madam Wesley is among the first five sports personalities in the country," he said.

According to Mr. Farkollie, the current LFA President has the requisite educational credentials at her advantage and is a person who has dedicated most of her time, energy and activities towards the game of football.

"I worked together with Madam Wesley at IE for many years and saw her ability to perform. So, I will support her. She must be commended for being so committed to football even though she is a lawyer," indicated the President of PROLA.

He then attributed the problems at the LFA to the failure by some stakeholders to work with Cllr. Wesley all because she defeated their candidate Siaka A. Sheriff in the election of 2006.

The candidate for LFA Vice President for Operations assured voters that upon his ascendancy he would support programs of Cllr. Wesley that fall within the rules of the game.

Mr. Farkollie added that the downward trend Liberian football faces today is a result of the long running civil war that affected all aspects of the country's society.

"The present LFA leadership could not succeed in the midst of problems. Therefore, the problem was never Cllr. Wesley, but those who believe that once they are not at the helm of power no one should succeed at all," he noted.

The PROLA boss admonished stakeholders to come together and forge ahead. He wants them to look at the candidates on the basis of their track record and not by their financial status. He advised stakeholders to be mindful of proxy candidates who are running to execute the hidden agenda and have sinister motives. "Some of these people have been roaming the corridors of football for the past four years and but failed to do anything but to cause chaos and anarchism."

Also confirming support for Cllr. Wesley is the Chairman of the Lofa County Sub-Association of the LFA.

Mr. Harris Kennedy, who is the lone contender for the position of Executive Committee Member of the LFA Sub-Associations, admonished Mr. Bility and the other contender George Wah Williams to work along with Madam Wesley upon securing her second term as President of the LFA.

According to Mr. Kennedy, since knowing Mr. Wesley in 1998, she has exhibited high sense of responsibility, efficiency and maturity in the performance of her duties. He said the Cllr. Wesley he knows is a woman of substance and dynamism in handing issues.
