Fahnbulleh Wants Recognition For Soccer Heroes

The Political Advisor to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Dr. Henry Boima Fanbulleh Jr Wants soccer authorities to give due recognition to Liberia's Past and present footballing greats.

Serving as keynote Speaker Saturday ,at Monrovia city hall during programs marking the installation of officers elect of the Liberia football association ,Dr. Fanbulleh argued that the naming of national stadium and other sporting shrines simply in the name of politicians as way of down playing the manifold contribution of sportsmen.

Dr. Fanbulleh indicated further that politicians always want to see history revolving around them and nobody always. He intimated further that when Liberia's new Generation of players appreciates the gains made by the likes of David Momo, Mama Mouse, and Josiah Johnson They will be inspire to strive for higher heights.

Dr. Fanbulleh, who claimed to have been an executive committee member of the Borrolle sports association before fleeing to exile, asserted that football should not be limited to residence of Monrovia alone.

He recalled that Liberia has produced formidable players from the rural areas who have made tremendous impart on the local soccer stage. Dr. Fanbulleh intimated that he LFa and the Ministry of youth and sports must do all they can to harness Liberia's youthful talent no matter where they are.

He said it's a pity that one of the greatest stars of our generation George Weah could not play at the world cup adding that the time has come for Liberia to scout for players who will pick off from Weah.


Amidst cheers Dr. Fahnbulleh the respected orator, indicated that Liberians want to scream for their own stars not the Ronal do, Ronadinho or Figo.

Dr. Fanbulleh recommended the construction of Mini stadium around the country to give other youths the opportunity to prove themselves.

He reminded the Wesley Lead leadership about the daunting challenges ahead but reminded that history has a way of confronting people with challenges noting that how well people approach such challenges will determine their place in history.
