FIFA Receives
Liberia's Report on Violence During Liberia-Senegal Match

Monrovia -November 11, 2004
Soccer authority in Monrovia has disclosed that the country has
submitted its report to the Federation of International Football
Association (FIFA), relative to the recent violence at the Samuel
Kanyon Doe Sports Complex during the Lone Star and Senegal's Teranga
Lions.
The submission of the report to FIFA by Liberia, comes after the
international soccer body demanded the local football house to
submit a full report of what transpired during the match.
The chief scribe of the LFA, Mr. Yanqueh Borsay told our sports desk
that the report has since been submitted last week.
He declined to say exactly what is contained in the report but
stressed that it includes all what the LFA perceives to have taken
place during the match.
Quizzed as to whether he was worried over a pending disciplinary
action from FIFA, Mr. Borsay in a serious mood, said he is not
worried at all because as he put it, players of the Lone Star did
not fight their counterpart of Senegal during the match. He said in
addition to this, the match also ended.
The LFA Chief Scribe added that the country's report is currently
being reviewed by FIFA and it is up to them to come out with a
decision on the matter.
During the country's last match against the Teranga Lions of
Senegal, violence erupted on the pitch when the Senegalese scored
their third goal. It all started when fans of the Lone Star began to
throw missiles on the pitch, a situation which brought the match to
a halt for up to 30 minutes.
Senegal won the match 3-0. It was a qualifying round match of the
2006 joint World Cup and African Nations Cup finals. The duel was
also part of the Group A matches of the competition which has
Liberia, Congo, Mali, Zambia, Senegal and Togo. Liberia is second
from bottom above Mali, while Togo and Senegal are on the top.
