Official ceremony marking the presentation of the African International Youth Football Tournament trophy won by BYC is expected to take place this Wednesday in Monrovia.

The presentation of the trophy will be made to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf by authorities of the club at her Foreign Affairs office.

The President of Barrack Young Controllers Sekou Konneh told Star Sports President Sirleaf was excited with the success of the club.

Mr. Konneh said he hopes the ceremony would be a turning point of the financial misfortunate the club was experiencing by using her presidential power to attract support to it or football as a whole.

He observed the lack of financial support or sponsorship was the major problem clubs in the country were faced with.

According to Mr. Konneh, if clubs in the country were both financially and morally supported, the standard of the game would improve.

BYC are the first Liberian club since the late 90s to have won an international trophy outside of the country.

And Mr. Sekou Konneh described their success “exciting and unbelievable at some point, but you have to accept the reality of life”.

“Sometimes you dream and those dreams don’t come to reality, but if you dream and your dream comes to reality, there is nothing more than that_ bringing proud to our country is what matters most” he asserted.
