MONROVIA, January 25 --The president of the
Mighty Electrons football club says he is contesting the
executive committee membership post in the March scheduled
Liberia Football Association (LFA) National Congress.
Mr. Uriah Glaybo said his desire to
seek the executive committee leadership stems from his quest
to see the improvement of football in the country.
When elected on the executive
committee of the LFA, Mr. Glaybo said he will work with that
body to design new strategies that will help uplift the
standard of football in the country.
The ELWA-based Mighty Electrons
president then called on the LFA and the new leadership of
President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to do all that is
necessary for the quick resurrection
of the national football team, the Lone
Star and the entire sporting
activities in the country.
In another development, Mr. Uriah has
expressed regret over the poor performances of his team in
last season's league, attributing it to the lack of team
work compounded by the unavailability of equipment needed
for the game.
He told our reporter that his boys are
currently undergoing intensive training and test matches
intended to help polish them tactically and physically in
preparation for the upcoming season.
Mr. Uriah then called on residents of
the ELWA community to give the necessary financial support
to Mighty Electrons for the coming national league season,
which he believes will help improve the team's performance
and bring the much needed victories.
Mighty Electrons is the only second
division club from the ELWA community, and has participated
in the LFA national league for over five years.
