Egyptian Coach to Start Training Lone Star soon

Egyptian Mohmoud Hussein Shawky is the new coach of Liberia

Reports reaching Liberiansoccer.com indicates that Liberia’s Egyptian coach is scheduled to start training the Lone star in a few days. The commencement of training is part of a planned program for the national team and will be a preparation for a couple of friendly matches the LFA is working on.

The LFA is lining up the Reggaeboyz of Jamaica and another as yet yet named opponent for the month of July as preparation for the 2008 ANC qualifiers.

Rececently it was reported that the coach was threatening to quit because of “lack of cooperation from sport Authorities in Liberia.

Our source tells us that issue is being steadily resolved. The recent changes in personnel at both the ministry of Youth and Sports and the LFA had led to some delays in providing the coach with the resources and means to carry out his work.

After coming within a point of qualifying for the 2002 world cup, the expectations of Liberian football fans remain at an all time high. So even the likes of Jamaica, ranked 46th in the world, does not strike fear among Liberian players and fans alike.

The coach will try to assemble a local based team who will be joined by several overseas based players expected to arrive in the country within the coming weeks.
