Dweh Allison
Rising To Stardom

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
A certain kid named Dweh Allison is among the strange
things that are occurring in this season’s premier league of the
Liberia Football Association (LFA).
Little was known of him until the young attacking midfielder started
pulling the strings for FCAK, a club playing its only second season
at the summit of Liberian football. To the advantage of Allison, the
team has a technical staff that comprises former Lone Star skipper
Joe Nagbe along with other former soccer stars Edwin Morgan and
Benjamin Saydee.
With height and skills that remind many of the legendary James
Salinsa Debbah, Allison has already bagged in six goals and is
currently the premier league’s top scorer thus far. He can play
effectively as a attacking midfielder and striker.
The latest victim of the rising star’s football tricks was Liberia’s
darling club Invincible Eleven (IE), which FCAK whipped 2-1 at the
Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia on Sunday, May 2, 2009.
Allison did not get on the score sheet this time around, but he
created both goals and was exceptional in a supporting striker
position. After destroying the club with the highest followers in
the country, songs of praises for Allison were being sung by his
fans following the match.
“I have been reading about my performance in the local media, but my
main focus is how my team will achieve something wonderful at the
end of the season. I am very grateful for the level of support we
are giving each other on the pitch. I hope we will continue to be
together throughout the season,” Allison declared.
Fast developing into a player that can play in any part of the
world, Allison has already been recruited as a member of the senior
national team of Liberia but was not fully utilized during the era
of the German tactician Antoine Tony Hey, now heading the national
team of Kenya, the Harambee Stars. He is still on the national team
at the moment and would soon be involved in preparatory matches for
the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifiers following the appointment of
a new coach for the Lone Star.
“I am not deterred that coach Hey did not give me the chance of
showing myself to the Liberian people. But with age on my side, the
right time will come for me to step into the shoes of George Weah,
James Debbah and my present coach Joe Thunder Nagbe,” Allison
stated.
The FCAK star is reported to have rejected a move to Indonesia in
recent months, where dozens of Liberians are playing. Instead, the
player chose to remain on home soil to become mature enough to
achieve his dream of playing competitive football in the big leagues
of Europe.
Born April 14, 1990, Allison started his career two years ago with
the Anchors of the National Port Authority (NPA) before joining the
ranks of FCAK last year. He scored 26 goals during his two season
spell with the boys from the Freeport of Monrovia.
The FCAK marksman named his unforgettable match as the one involving
NPA Anchors and US Goree of Senegal in the 2007 CAF Confederation
Cup.
Allison is a university student. He is capable and intelligent
enough to be the shining star of Liberian football in the nearby
future. International football scouts would soon be knocking at his
door. Watch out for this lad.
