Dulee Gets More Than US$30,000 For Wrongful Detention in
Sweden

Written by Stefan Holm of Aftonbladet Newspaper
Liberia international Dulee Johnson will receive more than
200,000 SEK (two-hundred thousand Swedish Kronor) for
wrongful detention in a Swedish prison in Stockholm.
The former AIK Solna midfielder will receive the money (more
than US$30,000 or thirty-thousand United States dollars)
from the chancellor as compensation for suffering and lost
earnings.
Dulee has created many headlines, even for acts performed
outside on the field. While playing for AIK, he was arrested
on suspicion of raping a 22-year-old woman in October 2010.
The woman told a hearing that she met Dulee at Spy Bar.
At an after party celebration in his apartment in Stockholm,
he would, according to the indictment, force her into sexual
intercourse.
Deputy Chief Prosecutor Henrik Söderman then convicted the
player after a month-long trial. But Solna District Court
chose to free Dulee, who denied all the allegations and he
requested compensation from the state.
The 27-year-old claimed a total of 308,745 SEK for the wrong
reasons having been arrested and detained from 12 October to
26 November 2010.
But the chancellor reduced the amount to 205,830 SEK, which
includes 50,000 for the suffering, 150,000 for loss of
earnings and 5,830 for legal fees.
Dulee, who in October was fired from his Dutch club
DeGraafschap, said the money came at the right time. Credit
Company Svea Finance has sued the former Lakers star of
52,710 SEK.
The case, which dealt with by the Solna District Court, for
a loan that Dulee signed in May 2010.
