Senegal striker El Hadji Diouf's
problems have continued after he was thrown off the Teranga Lions'
squad to face Liberia for Sunday's 2006 World Cup qualifier.
The former African Player of the Year was dropped after
partying at a nightclub.
According to sources close to the team, Senegal's French coach
Guy Stephan vetoed the player travelling with the rest of the team
following Diouf's antics and is said to have been furious.
"El Hadji Diouf was left out of the team for disciplinary
reasons," a Senegalese team official told BBC Sport.
The Bolton forward spent some of Friday night, and the early
hours of Saturday morning, in a nightclub at Fann Residence.
Stephan's ruling meanwhile ruffled the feathers of some of the
Senegal players who tried, in vain, to plead in favour of Diouf -
a delay which resulted in the team's plane taking off two hours'
late.
In the end, Senegal flew to Liberia for Saturday's match while
Diouf, who had driven to the airport in a bid to join up with the
team, was left to drive back to Dakar on his own.
Diouf had been due to make his return to the international fold
after having sat out a four-match suspension.
The forward, who was offloaded to Bolton after flopping at
Liverpool, had been suspended for four matches following his
sending-off in the the quarter-final of the 2004 Cup of Nations.
