Dioh Williams Ends Goal Drought

by Horatio Bobby Willie
Tuesday, 24 October 2006

Liberian international Dioh Williams was on target in the Swedish Premier league over the weekend. Dioh Williams scored the consolation goal for his club BK Hacken in their away league defeat.

The club continued its dismal outing this season with a 2-1 away defeat to Djurgardens IF.

Djurgardens was ahead by 2 goals to zero before Dioh scored the consolation in the 87th minute.

The goal ended the Liberian International long running goal drought in Sweden’s top league this season.

Dioh Williams who finished as the club’s top scorer last season now has four goals to his credit.

The defeat keeps BK Hacken at the 12th position on the 14 teams table.

The club has 17 points and needs to avoid defeat in its remaining matches in order to avoid relegation.

In another development, Liberia’s Francis Grandpa Doe put up a fine display in Greece on Sunday.

The Liberian striker made an important contribution in his club Atromitos shock win over Olympiakos in the Greek Super League.

Atromitos had the first big opportunity in the 23rd minute when a shot by Francis Doe took a deflection but Olympiakos goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis cleared the ball with a diving save.

Doe came close again in the 32nd with a lob past Nikopolidis which went narrowly over the crossbar as Atromitos commanded play.

Atromitos scored the winner in the 60th when Korakakis beat Nikopolidis from close range after Roberto Merino slalomed down the left wing.
