Liberia’s darling football club, Invincible Eleven (IE) could not stick to winning way in the Liberia Football association (LFA) 2009 national league as the yellow boys were beaten 2-1 by bottom of the table club, Dervereux FC.

Isaac Mensah opened the scored for the Gborboe Gblinwon guided side in the 26th minute, but Devereux FC reduced the scored line just one minute later as the first half ended 1-1.

Back from recess, both teams mounted pressure in an attempt to outdo each other as IE tried for her 3rd win of the season, while Devereux tried to secure just her first win of the season.

IE’s Joseph Kelleh Hina came closed to putting IE in front, but thanks to Devereux and Lone Star U-20 goalkeeper, Tarnue who made a brilliant save in the 60th minute.

IE could have taken the lead when LFA senior national referee, Ignatius Nimley awarded penalty to IE in the closing moment of the duel, but striker Lincoln Ganteh lackadaisically place the ball in the right corner of the attentive national U-20 goalie, Tarnue who made a superb save.

The save put the Osman Tall boys’ in gear for the maximum three points as terrific lad Lafa Tauray rattled the net in the closing moment to see his side secure first win of the season.

After the match, Lincoln Ganteh who missed IE’s penalty said “I take the blame and I want to apology to the fans for the mistake.

“I did not go to the ball to miss the penalty, but you know it happens in the game we all love.

“The fans must take heart and give us the same support,” the striker noted.

Devereux’s danger striker, Lafa Tauray who broke IE’s heart said “the goal was fantastic and came at the right time everyone wanted it.

“We have struggled to end our win drought and thank God we did.

“Our president Mr. Osman Tall is the happiest man of the moment and we promised him more to come,”
