Disbursement of Funds:
Deputy Sports Minister Threatens Demonstration

Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS)
03/Despite
the approval of US$200,000 plus by the Gyude Bryant administration,
the Ministry of Finance is allegedly still delaying in releasing funds
intended to run the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS).
According to the Deputy Minister for Administration,D. Max Leboe,
every effort has been exhausted but the Finance Ministry has not lived
up to its responsibility.
In a chat with journalists in Monrovia, Deputy Ministry Leboe said his
office will mobilize the
youths through the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), and if they
continue, they will demonstrate.
He mentioned that the Finance Ministry has deliberately passed its
eyes over the vouchers sent to
it by the Sports Ministry. “The Finance Ministry has failed to respond
to a budget that is supposed to keep the Ministry running.”
He expressed disappointment that the Finance Ministry has failed to
release funds to the Sports Ministry. “The Lone Star is training
without vehicle, while the Minister, the three deputies and
commissioners, directors have vehicles,” he disclosed.
It can be recalled there has been noise in the past concerning the
Finance Ministry always delaying in releasing funds to the Sports
Ministry. In the decision to always delay hampered the National teams
to participate successfully in international competitions.
