Defensive Duo Recommended To Lone Star

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

Two foreign-based defenders of Liberia have been recommended to the national soccer team Lone Star.

Playing along side the Lone Star veteran Joe Thunder Nagbe, the defensive duo plays in Indonesia for Riau PsPs Football Club.

According to their local Manager, Edward J. Brooks, Moses Nyewan alias Carlos Mozer and Winston "Pala" Daniels are needed for the Lone Star.

He said, with the huge demand for players for the national team, especially in defense, there is a need to include the two in the side.

"I have been following the track record of the two players, so, I believe they could help the Lone Star greatly."

Brooks stated that the players are no strangers to Lone Star having already played for the team before moving abroad. Brooks believes that the level of friendship that has existed between the two might be helpful for the Lone Star.

"They know how to play together because they have been good friends from their youth days," Brooks noted. He also said the players have played the kind of soccer that makes it impossible for one to doubt their ability to excel when recalled to the Lone Star.

Nyewan and Daniels began their soccer career from the West Point Township with Young Kototo.  From there, Nyewan moved to Black Stars in the first division.

However, the two were reunited when the once famous Junior Professionals were founded by soccer legend George Oppong Weah.

They propelled the team to the second and first division league titles before moving to Mighty Barrolle. At Barrolle, the two celebrated another division title.

Subsequently, Nyewan had an offer to play in Thailand for Black Pearl Nong Chock FC.
Despite moving abroad, Nyewan still had his friend in mind. Thus, when he switched to Indonesia, he quickly bankrolled the departure of Daniels for the Far East of Asia.

They are now happily reunited at the Riau PsPs where the two always in the starting lineup and are at the thick of things.
