The International Coordinator for Youth and Sports of
Liberia, Steve Davis has given a morale booster for Liberian football
following the acquisition of a US$250,000.00 sponsorship deal.
Mr. Davis stated at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium
(ATS) on Tuesday that a South African company, Bahlodi, has promised
to sponsor the national youth and senior teams of Liberia.
He said the President of the Liberia Football
Association (LFA), Cllr. S. Izetta Wesley was the brain behind the
deal as she was in South Africa last year for negotiation talks.
He disclosed that due to the urgent needs
for equipment for the national female under-19 team, the South African
company did provide some diadora items that are already in the
country.
While presenting the items, Davis named
them as 2 sets of jackets (30 each), 31 pairs of sporting slippers, 50
pieces of FIFA approved footballs, 2 sets of tracksuits and 62 boots.
The rest he listed are 4 sets of jerseys, 32 pairs of sneakers and 4
sets of warm-up kits.
Responding, LFA President Wesley lauded Davis for what has been
started.
“Once started, I know we will have more. Having
these equipment, we will have greater hope.
“We will appreciate and look forward to more as
stipulated in our agreement,” the LFA boss added.
Davis later revealed plans by Bahlodi to hire a French
coach for the national team.
“This is just the beginning because they are going to
do a lot more.”
He threw praises at Cllr. Wesley for working so hard for the items to
reach the country. |
