Gbandi Benched
Dallas defender Chris Gbandi did not dress for Last night match, a
disciplinary action by coach Colin Clarke for the player's comments.
With Clarke wanting to give Alex Yi a trial in the middle of the
back-line, Greg Vanney was to be moved to the outside, resultantly
sending Gbandi to the bench.
Gbandi had started four matches and come off the bench in a fifth,
missing only one game when he was suspended for his red card in an
eventual victory over the Kansas City Wizards. He expressed his
displeasure about apparently losing his job to The Dallas Morning
News "Obviously, they don't want me here," he said. "If they don't
want me here, fine. The team is good enough. The players here are
good enough. ... Why don't they just call me into the office and
tell me a reason? I'm wasting my time here."
Clarke informed Gbandi in a pre-game meeting he would not dress
against the Galaxy. "It wasn't appropriate what he said," Clarke
said of his defender to the Morning News. "I don't feel like he's in
the right frame of mind to represent FC Dallas. . . "I told him we
wanted him here, that he was a big part of our plans."
Yi did a fine job of limiting Donovan's chances throughout the
match.
