The Chairman of the
National Investment Commission (NIC), Dr. Richard Tolbert and team
have won the elections of the Invincible Eleven (IE)
Majestic Sports Association.
Dr. Tolbert won his opponent, James
Madison Tukpah 703 to 512 votes for the presidency of the sunshine
yellow boys, while Former Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL)
President, Mr. Momolu V.O. Sirleaf won another SWAL member,
Vincent Yelegar as General National
Secretary of the club.
To complete Dr. Tolbert’s team for the
leadership of IE, Francois Junius, Alfred Sayon and Jonathan “Boy
Charles” Sogbie all won unopposed as Vice President for
administration, Vice President for Operations and Vice President for
Fan Clubs respectively.
Dr. Tolbert earlier stated that IE under
his leadership would be a world class club, with the soccer and
basketball clubs being given a new look.
He is the nephew of the late former
Liberian President William R. Tolbert.
This year’s IE election was well attended
with 1, 151 fans of the club who voted to probably see a complete
change.
If Dr. Tolbert and team’s campaign message
is something to believe, than it means the sunshine yellow family is
gearing for something better.
The Richard Tolbert Administration planned
to focus primarily on the creation of a world-class Invincible Eleven
& Majestic Sports Association, Incorporated and a winsome
soccer/basketball teams and other activities undertaken by the
Association.
