Monrovia - Residents in the populated borough of New Kru
Town unveiled a new modern mini sports pitch Thursday, the
latest in a series of sports facilities in urban communities
undertaken by the Senior Advisor to President Sirleaf,
Robert Sirleaf.
Residents like Victoria Nimely who works at the New Kru Town
Magisterial Court expressed her happiness that youngsters in
the area will now have a modern facility to spend their
leisure time.
Ms. Nimley commended Mr. Sirleaf and the OSA office for a
job well done and hoped that borough residents will help to
properly manage the facility.
Says Nimley: “This is the only president’s son from among
the children of the 23 president’s that have ruled this
country since independence to take such a great step in the
field of development; not for himself but for the citizens
of this nation."
"So I personally pray that God will bless President Sirleaf
and her son Robert and the rest of her children.”
The stadium was turned over to citizens of the borough
Thursday during a well-attended program held at the
Auditorium of the D. Tweh High School on the Bushrod Island.
During the program, Representative Edward Forh of District
#16, who spoke on behalf of the people of the Borough,
congratulated President Sirleaf for her success in the
just-ended 2011 General and Presidential Elections and said
that they will do everything possible in the Legislature to
ensure a very successful and memorable inauguration.
“On behalf of the district governor and elders, women, youth
group and residents of the borough, we congratulate you for
winning the Nobel Peace Prize which has again placed our
country on the map of respect,” Representative Forh said.
Said Rep. Forh:“It is our hope that this peace award will
increase the effort of peace among our brothers in the
sub-region and the international community that have stood
with us for the past two decades."
"For the peace we are enjoying today will not be lost and by
this award, Liberia will experience perpetual and lasting
peace.”
Rep. Forh added that the people of District #16 are grateful
people and will never forget the office of the Special
Advisor to the President, through whose instrumentality the
stadium was built.
Forh also provided bus for employees of the Redemption
Hospital which has helped reduced the transportation problem
of the employees.
Said Forh: “Madam President, I am appealing to you to please
help us to open a vocational training program here at the D.
Tweh High School for our students so that when they leave
High school, they will be specialized in a particular field
where they will be able to earn money to support themselves
in college.”
In remarks, President Sirleaf thanked residents of the
borough for the manner in which they conducted themselves
during the just-ended elections and urged them to remain
good people for the love of Liberia.
Said Sirleaf: “Thanks for being good Liberians which has
made our country proud all over the world and I am very
happy for all of these young people who have come to make
this program a successful one.”
The President thanked members of the OSA for a job well done
and urged them to continue their good work.
The Chief of Office Staff to Mr. Sirleaf, Mohammed Paasewe
said the mini stadium at D.Tweh Field is the latest in a
long line of projects undertaken by the OSA as he reaffirmed
the OSA’s commitment to the people of New Kru Town and the
rest of the communities in Monrovia.”
Said Mr. Paasewe: “We are ever ready to continue our
developmental work around Monrovia and let me tell you this;
we are now extending our work beyond Monrovia and we are now
in two major counties in Nimba and Margibi Counties, and in
the coming weeks we will be dedicating two mini stadiums in
both counties through OSA initiative.”
The OSA Senior Advisor called on all Liberians to put aside
their differences and work together for the love of Liberia.
“We are now in the Christmas season and the elections time
has passed, so let us put aside our political differences.
This is the time for reconciliation and it’s time to help
move our country forward,” Mr. Paasewe concluded.
