Following a
two-week long training in Advanced coaching at the Ghana Sports
College in Winneba, Ghana, five Liberian coaches have been awarded
certificates.
The coaches,
Clarence Lee Chea, Gborboe Glinwon and Patrick Julue of DISM-BFC and
David Nimely were the four coaches awarded certificates of distinction
having performed admirably at the seminar.
Gotolo Johnson
was the other Liberian coach who received certificate of participation
at the coaching seminar.
Specialized FIFA
coaching instructors drawn from across Europe and Ghana spearheaded
the training exercises.
Dorkpah
International Sports Management (DISM)
based in Minnesota, USA, sponsored coaches Clarence Lee Chea, Gborboe
Glinwon and Patrick Julue who represented Buduburam Football Club at
the seminar.
The Administrator of the Ghana Sports
College, former Black Coach Fred Osam Duodou has meanwhile recommended
that the four coaches who received distinctions be further trained in
Germany and Denmark.
Mr. Duodou in his
ultimate remarks acknowledged the productivity of the Liberian coaches
and has forwarded his nominations to the Danes and German FAS where
they will be trained later this year.
Speaking to
Liberian soccer via telephone yesterday, Coach Lee confided that DISM
has agreed to bankroll the travel of its coaches to Denmark and
Germany for the International course.
“An
estimated amount of $7,000 dollars to facilitate our travel to Europe
has been allocated by the Management of DISM and we’re grateful to
them for the initiative”, he fathomed.
Coach Lee, who
didn’t conclude on the actual date for the International training,
however indicated that an additional $5,000 has been set aside for
Buduburam Football Club by DISM.
He noted that the
funds, which will cover a large portion of the team participation in
the 2003 Ghanaian Division II League, would help reinforce their
chances of qualification to the First Division.
DISM, according
to Coach Lee, has also acquired 15 acres of fresh land near Buduburam
to be modernized into their home pitch as part of the package for
2003.
For the past few
years, DISM has been involved with the promotion of gifted Liberian
talents and has over 20 potentials players now in its fold.
The like of
Francis Doe, the 17 year-old that made headways in Cameroon and in the
2002 CAF Cup and England, Ben Teekloh recently recalled by Lone Star,
Joseph Pailey, Christian Essel and Zah Krangar now playing in Cameroon
are samples of their trades.
