Wednesday, 27 December 2006

Four more counties have secured places in the knockout round of this year’s national county meet.

The counties made sure of their places following a round of games over the weekend.

The counties are defending champions Gbarpolu, Bomi, Margibi and Bong Counties.

Gbarpolu whipped Bomi 1-0 in Tubmanburg on Saturday to secure top spot in their group. Amos Wilson got the goal for Gbarpolu.

In Kakata, Margibi County came form behind to score an impressive 4-2 victory over visiting Grand Bassa County.

The win secured the county a place in the knockout rounds ahead of Rivercess County on goal difference.

Rivercess got three points without kicking the ball because Montserrado failed to show up on Saturday.

The knockout phase on the competition will begin on January 13.

The first round of the county meet will be completed this weekend in the Southeastern region.
