With Liberia still recovering from the spoils of
war over the last four years, the President of the Liberia Football
Association (LFA) Edwin Snowe has disclosed that the country will
partake in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, which preliminary rounds
begin October this year.
In a chat with this paper some time ago, Prexy
Snowe said football is very important to Liberians, and it has helped
in the de-traumatization process.
"We intend to keep football alive during this
period after years of suffering. Our participation in these
international competitions will tell the world that indeed there is a
country still call Liberia and needs help," he said.
On whether the Football House will be prepared
to shoulder the financial burden that goes along, he said every
well-meaning Liberian will support the idea and the LFA in this
direction.
The Football House is ready to play its part in
making sure that the country's flag is flown international in sporting
events.
Meanwhile, the LFA's Chief Scribe Yanqueh has
told journalists that his office has prepared a budget in this
direction.
