Coach Lardner
Wake Held At Relatively Dark ATS!

Coach Lardner’s body taken to
VIP at the ATS
By Roland M. Mulbah
If dead body could express himself, Wilfred
“Kajaniel” Lardner, the man who is on record as the first Liberian
coach to take the National team of Liberia, Lone Star to its first
Africa cup of Nations in South Africa 1996, would have been angry
with the Government of Liberia, Liberia Football Association (LFA)
and football lovers for the way his wake was held at the partly dark
Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).

The fallen national hero’s wake started at the
rather dark ATS with no representatives from the Government of
Liberia, LFA, former Lone Star players and the Coaches Association
to receive the body.
Does this show positive signal for Liberian
football?
Who is responsible for the poor way the former
Lone Star of Liberia head coach wake was carried on? That was the
question everyone failed to answer as the poorly attended wake went
on.
In an interview with
www.liberiansoccer.com, the family stated that the Government of
Liberia provided casket and the throne to bury the former Lone Star
coach, while the LFA through its SG stated that the family only
asked for facilities to have the wake.
Some expressed frustration in the LFA while
others blamed the Government for not planning a State burial for the
former National football coach.
Meanwhile, the fallen coach is expected to be
buried Today, Saturday, May 30, 2007.
It is not yet clear whether the Government of
Liberia will be represented, since there were no representatives at
the beginning of the wake to receive the body.
