Coach Jericho Fails First Test

May 4, 2006

Former national team Deputy Coach Frank Jericho Nagbe on Wednesday failed his first test at his new club Black Star in the ongoing Liberia Football Association (LFA) premiership title chase.

Coach Jericho, who led NPA Anchors to the runners-up spot in the debut season at the top flight last season, failed his first test when his side lost to Watanga FC 3-1 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).

It was his side that opened the lead after 10 minutes through the sublimely gifted Melvin Kickmett after being released by teammate John Barnes.

They could have even scored more goals, but timid finishing eluded them as the half went to bed.

Watanga FC then rallied brilliantly in the second period, and found the equalizer through Pea Brown, thanks to erratic goalkeeping from Sorsor Jomah in the 62 minute.

Nine minutes later, he made another elementary blunder that led to the second goal, this time from Armah Coleman.

He was then substituted, but that could not prevent the third goal from the too hot handle Coleman as he bemused substitute goalie Papa Jana to end the match 3-1.

Coach Jericho replaced Coach Augustine Lloyd after their 4-1 humiliation by Mighty Barrolle 11 days ago in Kakata, Margibi County.

Black Star has now ended the first phase matches with 12 points on eight matches.
