Coach Hails
Kicmett

Adama Traore, the head coach of Malian side
Club Olympique de Bamako (COB) has hailed his pacy Liberian
striker Melvin Okoro Kicmett and has described him as the darling
of the club who has a fabulous talent.
"We at COB are very lucky to have this
young Liberian Melvin Kicmett in our squad. He has so many
qualities. He can dribble, pass, strike with power, and as well
score goals", the well experienced coach noted in an interview
with the Malian Daily INFO MATIN. Reports reaching
liberiansoccer.com also indicate that Malian radio station CANAL
2000 has tipped the 21 year old Liberian, Kicmett, to win the best
foreign player crown as well as the over all Most Valuable
Player when the league starts on December 13.
But, the club's coach Traore says while they
may be in high spirit after their good outing in the Top Four,
they will have to do evrything possible in terms of convincing
Kicmett to sign on with their club for the ensuing season. "He has
played for us in such an important preseason competition and
showed class, now it is the time for us to convince him to stay on
with us permanently", Coach Adama Traore was alos quoted as saying
in the INFO MATIN.
With just his first competition, the young
Liberian striker has lifted the crowd in the West African nation,
and with the transfer window soon to open in Europe and other
areas, the player could be faced with a selection problem, and for
the fact that he is a free agent, many clubs through their scouts
will be keen to lure the aggressive forward.
The player is however tight lipped as to
whether he will sign with COB or move on when an offer comes. "I
cannot tell now as to where i will be in the next few weeks or
months, because football is full of surprises and one does not
really know where he will be at a given time", the 2005 Liberia
Football Association (LFA) First Division league top scorer noted
when quizzed by liberiansoccer.com.
Kicmett's pace, precision and flair are
qualities that makes him an asset, and is said to be keen to
continue what he does best, playing football.
The lad made his international debut against
the Hawks of Togo in Lome during the qualifiers of the joint
2006 Nations and World Cup qualifiers. After proving his worth in
Cameroun, the nimble-footed attacker landed in Mali in an attempt
to get somewhere bigger, but fate was not on his side and has
since begun wooing the crowd in that country by evidence of his
Most valuable Player (MVP) crown won in the Malian Top Four.
Combining speed with skills are his main
strength and his crafty left foot, mazy runs and whole hearted
approach to matches makes him a player anyone following
football can freak for.
