Present Sketch For SKD Sports Complex

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Counselor
Wheatonai Dixon-Barnes has received a complete set of drawings for the
renovation of the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville
City. The presentation was made at the Youth and Sports Ministry by
the Embassy of the People s Republic of China in Monrovia.
Making the presentation on Tuesday morning at the
Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of
the Embassy, Mr. Zhang Yi told the Minister that the drawings were
being presented to her for her comments and approval.
He said that the drawings were an improvement over the
original designs of the sports complex which lies in ruin as a result
of the war.
He informed the Sports Minister that the set of
drawings contains the electrical, air-conditioning, water, structural
and fishing plan for the renovation project.
Receiving the drawings, the Sports Minister thanked the
Counselor for the speedy manner at which the renovation project was
being undertaken by the Government and people of China.
Cllr. Barnes assured the Counselor that the drawings
will be forwarded to the Ministry of Public Works for its professional
advice. Thereafter, appropriate action would be taken.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the Sports Ministry
received a 5kva generator from the United Nations Children s Fund
(UNICEF), costing US$3,619.74.
Youth and Sports Minister Barnes lauded UNICEF for its
continuous contribution to the capacity building effort of her
Ministry. She promised that the generator will be used to strengthen
its training delivery system.
