Chief Patron of Sports Hosts Lone Star

President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has underscored the need to upgrade the Liberia national team, the Lone Star, if Liberia is to succeed in its drive qualifying for the African Nations’ Cup and the World Cup in Ghana and South Africa respectively. The President also noted the challenges facing the Lone Star and assured sporting authorities that her government will do all it can to meet those challenge.

President Johnson-Sirleaf made the remarks yesterday at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia when she hosted a luncheon in honor of both the Lone Star and the Wasps of Rwanda.

According to a release, the President also expressed satisfaction over the performance of the team and looked forward to improve its status.

Speaking earlier, Liberia Football Association- LFA, President, Cllr. Izetta Wesley, thanked the President for the invitation and the level of encouragement shown the team thus far

Also at the program were the FIFA representatives who officiated yesterday’s Liberia-Rwanda match.
