Campaign Manager Concedes Defeat

March 25, 2006

The Campaign Manager of Siaka A. Sherif has accepted the defeat of his candidate in the just-ended elections of the Liberia Football Association (LFA).

At the climax of the 12th Ordinary Congress of the LFA, held in Kakata, Margibi County, Mr. Sherif, who was then the Vice President for Administration, lost the presidential race to Cllr. S. Izetta Wesley last Saturday.

In his concession comments, Andy Quamie described the defeat of Sherif as the will of Congress and that of football stakeholders.

Quamie added that he supports the mandate given to Cllr. Wesley as the head of Liberian football.

The Campaign Manager of Mr. Sherif admonished Cllr. Wesley to include everybody in the running of football.

Mr. Quamie, who is also the President of the Premier League outfit Watanga FC, lauded the efforts of those who stood by them during the campaign period.

He promised to remain supportive in the development of football in the country.

The young club president declared that Mr. Sherif, despite his defeat and the fact that he would no more form part of the LFA Executive Committee, has not turned his back on promoting youth soccer.

According to him, Mr. Sherif would very soon begin to promote the development of youth football programs, particularly at the Under-17 and 20 levels, as pledged during the campaign season.
