CAF to Decide Female U-19 Fate Soon
March 6, 2006
The dream of Liberia National U-19 Female Team to make the debut in
their international match against the Guinean counterpart at
Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) was dashed was dashed on Sunday, March
5.
The team's dream was not realized because the Guinean team could not
come to Monrovia due some political developments in that country.
While the Guinean national female team failed to show up for the
Sunday clash, the match officials for the Female derby were already in
the country.
The three Female Referees came from Senegal Fadouma Dia, Florence
Biagui and Mareme and the Gambian match Commissioner El Hadj Ousmon
Conateh allowed the normal match formality to go ahead in the line
with the law of the game.
At the end of the formality, the Senegalese Center Referee Fadouma Dia
issued her authority through the whistle for the end of the match.
Though the match was not played, the Gambian match Commissioner was
quick to tell reporters that decision on the match will be decided by
the Confederation of African Football (CAF) when they will have
submitted their reports.
With this development, all eyes are now on the CAF as to who will go
through to the next round of the CAF Female U-19 Competition. CAF's
decision will determine who meets Algeria in the next stage of this
prestigious competition.
However, as a means of entertaining the Liberians who turned out for
the match yesterday, an exhibition match between the National Female
U-19 and All Stars was played at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).
The Female U-19 score a 2-0 victory over the All Stars.
Liberian Female Semipro Amelia Washington, who plays for Ghanaian
Female club Hasaacas and Kpannah Sayon were the goal scorers for the
U-19 side.
