Two players of LPRC Oilers who were recently spotted in Addis Ababa by
St. Georges football club while on national duty, are needed to beef
up the team in the ongoing Ethiopian league.
A dispatch received by this paper from St. Georges yesterday said the
club is anxious to have the two Liberians back in Addis Ababa and join
ranks with them in their quest for the Ethiopian championship.
Goalkeeper Boye Pratt, who put up a magnificent show in Addis Ababa
during Lone Star's 1-0 loss and defender Shelton Barlee, who showed
the stuff that he is made off, were spotted by St. Georges' officials
and asked them to join them.
The two Oilers players were asked to stay behind in Addis, but the
players said they needed to come home and discuss the terms of their
contracts with their mother club, LPRC Oilers. They told St. Georges'
officials that if they were serious they should send for them from
Liberia, something which will make LPRC Oilers, the LFA and themselves
to benefit from the transfer.
While in Addis, goalie Pratt and defender Barlee trained with the team
for two days and performed well.
St. Georges' officials wrote LPRC Oilers management requesting the
services of the two players. Coach Kadalah Kromah was given the
letters to bring to Oilers management.
With time running out, the two players are expected to be in Addis
Ababa this Thursday to commence their semi professional careers.
It has been disclosed that LPRC management has volunteered to purchase
their players' air tickets as a way of supporting their players to
seek greener pasture. This paper learned that LPRC Managing Director
Belle Dunbar herself has gotten involved since Comptroller Bill
Findley is out of the country in making sure that the players obtain
their air tickets needed for their return.
With Managing Director Belle getting involved, it is believed that the
players will be given their air tickets and return this week to Addis.
In a related development, goalie Pratt and defender Barlee have
expressed gratitude to the LPRC Managing Director for her involvement
in their return to Ethiopia to start a semi professional career.
