Borsay Names Best 11 For Cameroon

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The former Secretary-General of the Liberia Football Association
(LFA), Mr. Yanqueh S. Borsay has named his best starting eleven
players that could defeat the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
The Liberian national soccer team, Lone Star will travel to Cameroon
to face the Indomitable Lions in March next year in the third round
of matches of the 2008 African Nations Cup qualifiers.
The selection of Mr. Borsay could be the best cream of players of
the country, but it is Lone Star head coach Frank Jericho Nagbe that
has the authority to either accept or reject same.
In his selection, Mr. Borsay maintained confidence in the
Swiss-based goalkeeper Louis Crayton despite conceding two goals
against Rwanda.
He named Fallah Johnson, based in Indonesia, for the position of
right full back, while Chris Gbandi, who is playing actively in the
US Major League, was preferred as the left full back.
Though sidelined since Jericho’s ascendancy, Mr. Borsay selected
former skipper Varmah Kpoto to partner the evergreen Jimmy Dixon,
who recently signed for Malmo FC in Sweden, as the center backs.
The former LFA Secretary-General believes that the old midfield
combination of Joe Thunder Nagbe and Kelvin Sebwe would augur well
for the Lone Star’s quest to defeat Cameroon.
On left side of midfield, Mr. Borsay thinks another Swedish-based
player Dioh Williams is well suited there, while he transferred
George Gebro from the left-full back post to his former right side
of midfield role.
He concluded his Lone Star squad by naming Francis of Greek club
Atromitos FC and Jomo Cosmos of South Africa star Anthony Laffor.
The selection of Mr. Borsay was in reaction to previous squads named
firstly by former Lone Star player and coach Josiah N. Johnson alias
JNJ and later sports journalist Wleh Bedell.
He commended JNJ for taking the first step, while Bedell was lauded
for differing with the former.
Mr. Borsay stressed the need for other Liberians to make suggestions
on the possible squad that would defeat Cameroon next year.
He maintained that the essence of suggesting potential players to
head coach Nagbe is for the Lone Star to become successful not only
in the match with Cameroon but also to qualify for Ghana 2008. |
