Star humiliated at home

Black Star FC has ended their journey in the African Champions
League with a humiliating home defeat. Black Star conceded ten goals
in the two leg preliminary round showdown.
Nigeria’s Heartland FC demolished a sorrowful Black Star 6-1 at the
Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
The game was another goal festival Sunday for Heartland FC at the
ATS.
The Nigerians started the match on an observational mission by not
getting hold of too many chances in the opening 15 minutes.
They finally broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute through Chibambo
Sinswonders to score the first of what became half a dozen of goals.
Bill Sheriff pulled back the equalizer for the Liberian champions’
one minute before break. The striker had earlier missed a clear
chance 10 minutes along the line.
Black Star FC began part two of the showdown on an aggressive
footing with both Sengbeh Kennedy and Bill Sheriff testing the
ability goal backer Ezenwa during the opening moments.
Heartland smartly discovered the weakness of their opponents by
keeping tight of the midfield and taking advantage of a destabilize
defense.
Addae Owusu stepped up the visitors lead in the 66th minutes from a
perfect finish before Aziz Ansah and Ubido Julius scored in the 74th
and 79th minutes respectively.
Owoeru John added a brace in the 89th and 91st minutes to truly
expose the backwardness of Liberian football.
At the same time, Liberia’s other representative in continental
campaign also saw the exit door.
Mighty Barrolle bowed to the SO Amere of the Ivory Coast 2-1 in
Abidjan.
