Black Star In LD$20,000.00 Trouble

By Roland M. Mulbah

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has fined its defending champions Black Star LD$20,000.00 for failing to end the match against Mighty Barrolle in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.

According to the Deputy Secretary General (SG) for technical affairs at the local football house, Mr. Benedict Yarsiah, Black Star violated the rules and regulations of the LFA by failing to end a match and warrants the above fine.

The reports say, Black Star former president Mr. Pennoh Bestman, who is Vice President for Administrations at the LFA, ordered his players to leave the pitch after Mighty Barrolle took a 2-1 lead in the pairing in Buchanan.

The reports also say Black Star defender Dominic Salvace was red carded when Mr. Bestman took the decision accusing the referee of cheating.

Keen observers of Liberian football have hailed the local football house for the fine against its defending champions and believe it would serve as an example for the good of the game.

Mr. Yarsiah also said Black Star has already paid the fine.

At the same time, the LFA Executive Committee met Thursday, 1st May, 2009 to decide the punish for LFA VPA Mr. Bestman who carried on the misconduct.
