Big Match At ATS!
-Liberian Pros VS LFA All Star

A host of Liberian professional footballers, plying their trades in Europe, America Asia and other parts of the world , who are currently in the Liberia for vacation, are expected to battle against a SWAL selected elite local football side, in a best-out-of-three encounter at the refurbished Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.

The firs ever SWAL developed tournament is dubbed “SWAL Stars Vacation Tournament.”

The three-day’s soccer festival is organized by the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) in collaboration with its partners, Vantaa Sports and the Pioneer Sporting Group (PSG).

According to the release, the games are scheduled for Sunday, December 27; Wednesday, December 30, 2009 and Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 4:00pm prompt.

The Pros, according to the release, will be captained by all-rounder Ben Teekloh of Farul Constanta, Romania.

Other professionals include Dulee Johnson who has won the double in Sweden with AIK Solna, Egyptian side Al-Ahly attacking ace Francis Grand Pa Doe, Sekou Jabateh Oliseh who is showcasing in the UEFA Champions League with Russian side CSKA Moscow, Danish club AGF Aarhus hit-man Dioh Williams, deadly forward Ben Martins of Zesco United in Zambia and Swedish side Elfsborg U-20 winner, the sublime Amardiya Rennie are expected to feature in this maiden tournament.

Other pros include: Ope Myers from Ghana, James Koko Lomell from Israel, Tonia Tisdell and Theo Weeks from Turkey.

The release further predicts that the selected elite locals will be captained by goalie Saylee Swen of LFA Premiership runners-up LPRC Oilers.

Other players expected to form part of the local squad are Vice Captain Archie Harvey, alias Shaun Wright-Philips of LFA premiership Champions (Mighty Barrolle); Jacob Goe of Knock-Out Champions (Barrack Young Controllers); Freeman Mulbah (Jasmine Rangers) and James Soto Roberts (Black Star).

Fans are asked to select their local players via text or phone calls on the various sports programs on radio.

 The final squad for the local elite according to the release is expected to be released this Saturday, December 26, 2009.

‘Man of the Match’ will be selected after each game by a panel of expert and the release states that proceeds from the tournament  will go towards charity.
