Big
Blow For Lone Star!
Who
Replaces Jimmy Dixon?
It may sound like no news again as it is normally if it does
not always happens.
Towering and experienced rearguard Jimmy Dixon will not be part of the
Lone Star line up for the September 5, clash with the
Warriors of Zimbabwe.
Sources at the LFA say the player noted "injury problem" as
a reason for not coming for the match against the Southern
African opponents.
On many occasions, the intelligent center back has pulled
out of the Lone Star squad after being sent an invitation in
the name of injury.
It can be recalled, the former BK Hacken defense linchpin
pulled out of a crucial qualifier against Cameroon at the
Amadou Ahidjo Stadium on March 26, 2006 citing injury
reason.
He also pulled out of the corresponding fixture in Monrovia
for similar reason, and lately, he turned down the
invitation to participate in the recent justification
tournament for the "Toothless- Bull Dog, 66 year old
Hungarian Coach Bartalan Bicskie to have an opportunity to
evaluate the country's players who he say he does not know
(besides Francis Doe and Anthony Laffor) since according to
him "they don't play in top leagues"
With Jimmy not coming, the major question now is: who can
fill in his shoes or serve as a replacement for him.
The likes of Omega Roberts now on holiday in Ghana or
Patrick Nuku Granue who has since returned to his base in
Indonesia are possible options.
But, if the virtually overburdened Hungarian would want to
stick with players he is now working with, then LPRC Oilers
double-colored hair, resourceful center back Teah Dennis is
the best option to replace Jimmy Dixon.
Like Jimmy, the youngster is tall, intelligent, and in fact
aggressive.
An area he might slightly be over his senior compatriot
Dixon whose experience, good timing and reading of the game
are delight.
Defender Dennis whose father Teah Dennis, Sr. as well
featured for Oilers, was a member of the national U-23
winning squad in Syria where they made in-roads against the
trio of hosts Syria, Malaysia and Togo.
He was also a member of the squad in the recent Independence
celebration tournament where a local based Lone Star
defeated Guinea 1-0 and then lost to Ghana by the same score
line at the SKD.
However, if the player is selected, he could start from the
bench as the Kenyan based uncompromising man marking
defender Liberian- Puyol known as Alex Karmo is expected to
form a strong partnership with the Israeli based coy-like
defender George Baysah, while the Greek based wingback
Solomon Grimes and the Israeli based wingback Gizzie Dorbor
are expected to complete the back four.
The quartet in midfield should include the unattached David
Gbemie who is reportedly training with Swedish club Elfsborg,
while the enigmatic Dulee Johnson is expected to operate in
the hole just behind the front two of Al-Ahly's Francis
Grandpa Doe and CSKA Moscow Sekou Jabateh Oliseh.
New Captain Anthony Snothi Laffor and the sublime Greek
based Isaac Pupo are expected to serve as lateral
midfielders.
