Big Match in Barnesville Soon

January 5, 2005

Wleh Bedell

Many Liberian football players returning from Ghana are expected to be officially welcome home shortly by their fellow "gaffers" thought special football match.

The talent-park Gardnerville selected All Stars under the captaincy of the uncompromising Shelton Barlee will engage the returnees from Ghana in an explosive soccer thriller at the crowd [pulling Barnesville Estate pitch.

It will certainly be pomp and pageantry as the All Stars attempt to plot their adopted Ghanaian brothers.

The All Stars who have attached serious importance to the match and have named a 22-men squad for the battle.

Making the squad are resourceful George Weah, Pacy Mark Jedoe, Crafty Melvin Kiemett and talented and gifted Mardie Rennie.

Others are towering Kay North, skills workshop Victor Nyanti as well as sneaky Chis Massaquoi who will be guarded by the man on the sideline, Kipi Doh, as they charge forward to give their brothers a welcome treat.

But excitement and drama are never far away when the boys from Budumburam are around under the helmsmanship of the tactical minded Edwin Minicom Jlopleh.

Player Jlopleh told reporters yesterday that he will feature his best for the pending "welcome home" match.

He named some of the players on hand for the encounter as explosive midfielder Aloysius Pennie, trickster Dioh Jlopleh, Isaiah Daye, the Boye Pratt and the indefatigable George Mitchell.

Meanwhile, reports reaching our sport desk say the pending friendly match between the two has begun gaining momentum among residents of Gardnerville and surrounding areas.

PYC Promises Stiff Fight Newly promoted second division team Paynesville Young Controllers (PYC) say they will be tough nut to crack in the forthcoming Liberia Football Association league.

Speaking to reporters over the weekend, the team head coach Gabriel Johns said his team will certainly be hard to beat as they have begun early preparation for the campaign.

He pointed out that anyone underrating PYC in this year's second division league would be making a great mistake, and added that PYC is coming to make a significant impart in the competition.

The newly promoted sides finished as champion in last year LFA third division playoff.
