Barrolle Tops LFA Premiership!

By Roland M. Mulbah rolandmulbah@liberiansoccer.com 2316714850

Mighty Barrolle has taken pole position of the 18 teams’ Liberia Football Association (LFA) premiership table for the first time since it kicked off on Saturday, March 28, 2009.

The Rollers did so without kicking a ball when bitter rival, Invincible Eleven (IE) refused to turn out for a rescheduled match in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.

Barrolle and IE were to play the second leg of the premiership in Buchana, but the match was postponed my match commissioner Idrisa Kaba due to what was considered bad playing pitch.

The local football house later rescheduled the match for Wednesday, October 15, 2009 at the same venue, but the yellow boys failed to turn out arguing that the LFA must pay its expenses.

The three LFA premiership title contenders in the form of Mighty Barrolle, Barrack Young Controller (BYC) and LPRC Oilers now have 64, 63 and 62 points respectively with three matches to go each.

Barrolle last three opponents include relegation bond and bottom of the table, Football Club Azziz Kara (FC AK) and rejuvenated Jubilee FC in Buchanan City Grand Bassa County and USA FC in Monrovia.

BYC has USA FC, Jubilee FC and Mighty Blue Angel in her last three matches, while LPRC Oilers will engage defending champions Black Star, Gedi and Sons and Monrovia Club Breweries in their last three matches.

The team of the moment, Garmondeh Karnga boys could boost their chances of clinching the LFA premiership when the Rollers meet already relegated FC AK in Buchanan this Sunday.

Reports from Buchanan say the kanyan peppers boys are in high spirit to extend their lead on top of the table.

“The president told us to stay in Buchanan and play FC AK before returning to Monrovia to face USA.

“We have been well taken care of, an as well, our salaries paid which we believe will boost our confidence of emerging as champions of the LFA premiership,” Mighty Barrolle Captain “Fantastic”, Nuzohn Kulala noted in a happier tone.

Some players in Buchanan to probably destroy FC AK this Sunday include Captain “Fantastic” Nuzohn Kulala, magic hands Samuel Cooper and Tom Nimely, consistent defender Halee Lahai, LFA premiership best defender hopeful Sam Peters, offence oriented wing backs Arthur Jerry and Samuel Tisdell as well as Ivorian defensive hero desire Johnson.

Others are master dribbler Archie Harvey, alias Wright Philips, new engine house Wilfred Greenfield; LFA premiership golden boots hopeful Weaka Wisseh, tormentor Sam Andrews, midfield maestro Little Lewis and other talented players who have vowed to clinch the top flight title.
