Barrack Young Controller (BYC) unbeaten run to the
current Liberia Football Association (LFA) premiership race was
brought to an end when the youthful LFA premier outfit went down to
Mighty Barrolle 3-0 at the Nancy Doe pitch in Kakata, Margibi
County.
www.liberiansoccer.com Senior Reporter Roland M. Mulbah was
at the well attended match that was considered experienced against
youthfulness and now leafs through the details.
Garmondeh Karnga’s Mighty Barrolle hope of
clinching this year’s Liberia Football Association premiership was
boosted Wednesday, May 6 at the Nancy Doe stadium when the red and
white LFA premier outfit thrashed league leader Barrack Young
Controller (BYC) 3-0.
Captain Nuzohn Kulala opened the score line
after a wonderful pass from Archie Harvey, alias Wright Philips in
the 18th minute after missing a penalty.
The kids mounted immense pressure on Barrolle
in an attempt to find the equalizer with top goal scorer Andrew
Swaray, alias Foday, Captain Jacob Goe and Matthew Dede leading the
attack in the Coach Abraham Sese 4-3-3 formation.
Goa came very close to reducing the score after
being connected by danger man Foday, but Barrolle goaltender in the
for of Samuel Cooper was up to the task to save the red and white
outfit.
Sam Andrew, who has been criticized in many
quarters due to his lack of goal scoring, ended his goal drought
with a cleaver finish to see Mighty Barrolle take a 2-0 lead at half
time.
Back from recess, it was Barrolle that came
under pressure again from BYC as the kids hoped to take a larger
lead to see their dream come true with their first LFA premiership
crown.
Barrolle defense that comprised of experienced
Hallie Lahai, aerial power Sam peters; Arthur Jerry and William
Tokpah had mountains to climb as BYC continued her attacking
football.
Substitute David Tweh than sealed the final
goal after being connected by Little Lewis to end the match 3-0.
The win took the Eric Thompson, alias Christian
Cole guided side at second spot with goals difference.
After the match, Barrolle boss Mr. Karnga was
glade and said “We have not taken our proper position on the current
LFA premiership table.
“The win is vital, but I think we will take our
proper position (1st place) when we meet LISCR FC on
Sunday.
A win for us and depending on the result from
LPRC Oilers and BYC match on Sunday, which I foresee a draw, will
mean we take pole position of the table,” the veteran Liberian
sports administrator noted in a rather positive tone.
As for his part, the president of BYC Mr. Sekou
Konneh said “We are not deterred by the defeat. We lost to the
nation rival in football, Mighty Barrolle.
But I think you saw reasons why we are at the
top of the league table with such beautiful football being played by
the kids.
“We will learn from our mistake as we engage
LPRC Oilers on Saturday,” BYC boss who is also a professor at the
University of Liberia noted.
In other matches played during the week, LPRC
Oilers and Mighty Blue Angel settled to a one all draw at the
Unification Town (UNT) pitch in Margibi County.
On Thursday, May 7, LFA sentimental favorite
LISCR FC and FC AK settled to a goalless draw, while lackluster
defending champions Black Star and point donor Devereux FC settle to
a 2-2 draw in Kakata.
The league continues Friday, may 8, 2009 with
more exciting matches.
In UNT at 4:PM, UMC Roots will engage Francis
Saploh Monrovia Club Breweries, while Jasmine Rangers and Adorence
FC will come face to face in Kakata.
Meanwhile, Liberia’s two football rivals Mighty
Barrolle and Invincible Eleven (IE) will battle for LD$10, 000.00
and a beautiful trophy in the 150th celebration of the
Liberia National Red Cross.
The match is expected to kick-off at 4: PM at
the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
The organizers of the 150th
celebration of the Liberia National Red Cross have made it clear
that admission will be absolute free.
The match will be considered a revenge for IE
after the yellow outfit was defeated by her rival Barrolle 2-0 in a
charity match at the ATS early this year.
