Barrolle Hooked
For Match Forfeiting
-Out of LFA knockout semi finals

The competition committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) on
Monday, October 12, 2009 charged Mighty Barrolle with match forfeiting
after reviewing reports from both the referee and the match commission
on the semi-finals encounter involving LPRC Oilers verses Mighty
Barrolle on Friday, October 9, 2009.
According to the competition committee, Barrolle came into the match
with seven players and two players fell during the match that causes
the referee to cut off the game.
“We later look at the laws of the game for 2009/2010 and saw that law
3 which states that a match is played by two teams, each consisting of
not more than eleven players, one of whom is the goalkeeper. A match
may not start if either team consists of fewer than seven players,”
the committee stated.
The local football house competition committee also disclosed that
during the investigation, the Ghana FA was contacted on this and it
was clear that Barrolle forfeited the match.
“If we allow Barrolle to play with seven players, other teams will do
the same and there will be so many problems at the LFA. Based on our
decision, LPRC Oilers is now going to the grand finals of the
knock-out competition against Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) on the
21 of October 2009 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS)”.
But when the president of Mighty Barrolle, Mr. Garmonded Karnga was
contacted, he said that his team went on the field with seven players
due to fatigue and injuries suffered by the players.
The red and white boss indicated that such was a formal complain to
the LFA concerning his players fatigue and injuries before the game,
but was not heard.
He said Barrolle was the only team that played five matches to get to
the knockout semi final while other teams played only three matches.
Mr. Karnga disclosed that the competition committee’s decision was
bias and is a bad precedent for Liberian football.
Mr. Karnga also stated that Barrolle will complain to the Disciplinary
Committee of the local football house to also look into the case.
“I will do every thing for the game of soccer to be what it should be
in Liberia,” he concluded |
