Barrolle, Oilers Clash Without Key Players
By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.
The reigning but struggling premier league champions Mighty
Barrolle will have LPRC Oilers as their first opponent on Friday in
phase two of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) 2005 National
League.
The two sides will, however, be without most of their key players as
they have been selected to travel with the national football team,
Lone Star for a four-nation tournament in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The
Lone Star will leave Monrovia on Friday.
This means Mighty Barrolle will be without Pascal Karblee, Abu Sando,
Solomon Grimes, George Miller and Varmah Kpoto. As for the LPRC Oilers,
they will be missing Saylee Swen, Solomon Wesseh, Rufus Salue, Isaac
Tondo, James Koko Lommel, Isaac Pupo, Shelton Barlee and Patrick Nuku
Granue.
Meanwhile, there will be a female second division clash prior to the
Barrrolle-Oilers match at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) on Lynch
Street. The match will involve Tito United and Determined Sisters.
On Sunday, Mighty Blue Angels will take on Bassa Defender in
Unification Town, Margibi County.
The phase two began last Sunday, June 5, at the ATS with Blanco
falling 3-1 to Pro Anchor Sisters in game one while the match that
followed produced a 2-2 draw between Kortie Invincible Eleven (IE) and
current female champions Earth Angels. Also on Sunday, LISCR FC
whipped Alliance FC 1-0.
The league continued on Wednesday and it was a big celebration for
the Barracks Young Controllers after thrashing Sounjata Warriors 4-1
in the second division.
The second match was another second division battle that saw Karn
United and Black Star settling to a 1-1 draw. |
