Mighty Barrolle Bow To IE

By Julu M. Johnson, Jr.

The first match between the bitter archrivals of Liberian football, Mighty Barrolle and Invincible Eleven (IE) was held over the weekend in the 2005 national football league.

Mighty Barrolle won the league title last year, while IE finished in second place, but the two giants of Liberian football have found the going to be tough this season.

However, during the match that took place before a record crowd at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS), IE collected a 1-0 win over the Rollers on Sunday.

The match was courtesy of a defensive blunder by stylish stopper Solomon Grimes, that second half substitute Khalifa Kromah made use of and scored in the 55th minute.

Mighty Barrolle had most of their chances missed in the first half in the presence of their president Lewis Browne and club veteran James Salinsa Debbah.

Prior to the match, Mighty Barrolle and IE have each won one match, lost two and drew one to give them four points respectively.

With the second victory of the season in five matches, IE now has seven points in the Liberian premier league.
