After years of absence, Mighty Barrolle has declared their
intention to participate in the 2005 CAF Champions League.
The Mighty Barrolle head coach David Nimely said
several activities have been planned as a means of preparing the
team for the task at hand.
Nimely indicated that the team would tour Sierra Leone
to face the country s top clubs.
He said Barrolle will be hosted by East End Lions whom
the Red Boys would also engage. Mighty Blackpool, Real Republicans
and possibly Port Authority are the other teams the tactician said
his team would meet in the neighboring country.
According to him, with full backings from the
administration and supporters of Mighty Barrolle as well as the club
s sponsors Cellcom, the trip to Sierra Leone has been set for
December 1, 2004.
Ahead of the trip, Coach Nimely revealed that his
side would move to camp beginning November in order to adequately
prepare itself for the journey next year.
The coach said following his team s return to Liberia, he
would travel to Ghana to negotiate a friendly with the great Asante
Kotoko.
Coach Nimely stated that if all goes well, the Rollers
will meet Asante Kotoko between December 24 and 25, 2004.
Barrolle s status as reigning champions of Liberian
football has automatically qualified them to participate in the 2005
CAF Champions League. They will be joined by the league runners-up
Invincible Eleven (IE).
Three other teams from Liberia will participate in the
2005 Confederations Cup, which replaced the former CAF Cup (Abiola
Cup) and African Cup Winners Cup (Mandela Cup). They are the
Knockout winners LISCR FC, runners-up Bassa Defenders and first
division champions NPA Anchors.
