Ghana reigning Champions Accra Hearts of
Oak on Sunday suffered a pitiful 1-2 routing at the lethal hands of
Bendu FC at the Accra Sport Stadium.
The Liberian Refugee team went into the match with high
determinations and hopes but was soon overwhelmed by the maturity of
the Ghanaian Champions.
Preventing the Liberians to settle, the Ghanaians used
both physical and ball handling tactics that were preceded by dozens
of near misses.
First, an Edmund Copson’s grounder ricocheted on the
lower right post while Bendu FC’s Goalkeeper Paul Mulbah who stood
between Hearts and success fisted two other shots from Nasiru Gani and
Kwame Antwi into torch.
Having wasted six successive corners kicks, Hearts had to
wait until in the 34th minute to break the deadlock.
Massawudu Mummuni capitalized on a poor clearance from a
goalmouth scramble to crash in the curtain raiser from inside the
six-yard box.
However, the Liberians that have failed to terrorize the
Ghanaians goal resorted from their defensive strategic to a rather
offensive start, which paid off in the 42nd minute through deadly
striker Patrick Nimely.
The trickery striker with only Kwamena Baffour to contend
with turned sharply from a run before dipping a volley from the inside
of his left foot far beyond the reach of Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei.
Having full-fledged in confidence, the Liberian side
recommenced the match with more valor and might, which was evident by
superb passes, perfect coordination and acute defensive skills.
The match winner came in the 54th minute through skimmer
Abraham Karmo whose low angel drive shot from the edge of penalty box
had Ghana Number one goalkeeper Sammy Adjei wheezing.
Meanwhile, the Phobias strained by their nearly 25,000 crowds
dominated the rest of the match as they rained pressure upon pressure
But the agility of Bendu FC ace goalkeeper Paul Mulbah
denied the Ghanaians a chance to level the tally as he pulled strings
of superb saves throughout the 95 minutes of soccer thrills.
Bendu FC is a newly established Liberian team based in Accra,
Ghana and gifted with plenty of sprouting skills.
