Accra-Ghana – In the second match of the ongoing 3rd Cup of
African Nations for Amputee Football (CAN 2011), Angola beat
Liberia 1-0 at the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC)
Park in Accra. The goal was scored in the 20th minute of the
first half.
The defending Champion Liberia suffered this defeat at the
time more is expected of them back in Liberia. Speaking to
coach Morrison after he had a view of a Liberia title win
again despite the defeat in the first game, he urged all
Liberian based in Ghana to come in their numbers to support
the team.
Host country, Ghana yesterday lost 2-0 and that poses a real
challenge to the host country after they were the first to
arrive, and back in Liberia they had a promise to bring the
giant trophy at stake. The tournament will not be played on
the traditional soccer pitch according to the World Amputee
Federation rules and the finals is expected on the 26th of
October, 2011.
There will be two matches at ATTC tomorrow, Tuesday, 22nd
November, Sierra Leone versus Niger (Group A) and Angola
versus Nigeria (Group B) but 24th November, is set as a rest
day
