Liberia’s Alex Nimely has been named in a 21 man squad for the English
Under-20 World Cup team.
The Manchester City forward was selected by Coach Brian Eastick to
form part of the Young Lions World Cup campaign in Egypt.
The player joins five of his Manchester City teammates who have also
being called to the U-20 National team for the challenge.
The 17th edition of the U-20 World Cup will run from September 24 to
October 26 and will be played in four cities.
The cities include Cairo, Alexandria, Port Said and Ismailia.
Alex Nimely will be the first Liberian to dun the jersey of England.
Under FIFA regulations he is still eligible to play for his mother
country provided he doesn’t play for the English senior National team
in a FIFA recognized tournament.
Under FIFA regulation, a player is considered to be a full
international if he takes to the field of play but if he sits on the
bench he could switch nationality.
England's first match is in Ismailia against
Uzbekistan on September 26.
